Global South

Global South refers to regions historically associated with the developing world, including Africa, Latin America, Asia, and Oceania. Once defined by socioeconomic divides, the term now highlights the growing political, economic, and cultural influence of these regions in the global order. Key drivers include rapid economic growth in countries like China, India, and Brazil, demographic expansion in Africa and South Asia, natural resource wealth, technological leapfrogging, and strategic non-alignment in global politics. By 2030, three of the four largest economies are projected to be from the Global South, reflecting a shift in economic power. The region also leads in innovation across fintech, renewable energy, and healthcare.
